Pool Rules

·        Guesses are all for final score after regulation and extra time.

·        1pt for correct prediction of the game outcome (winner or draw) throughout the tournament.

For the following the closest is defined by the lowest rating according to the following formula:

            Actual score:    A:B

            Guessed score: C:D

Rating = |A - C| + |B – D| + | |A – B| - |C – D| |

·        1st round (group play) – closest gets 3pts

         second closest 2pts

         third closest 1pt

       4 bonus pts for each correct team passing to 2nd round

This is based on placement of teams in the group, according to your guesses. If a group has three teams going through you will get 4 points for each of those teams that you placed in the top three in the group. If a group has two teams going through you will get 4 points for each of those teams that you placed in the top two in the group. Please ask for verbal clarification if necessary.

       5 bonus points for predicting the exact finishing order of any group

·        2nd round (round of 32 matches) – closest gets 6pts

         second closest 4pts

         third closest 2pts

       30 points for predicting all winners

·        3rd round (the eight-final matches) – closest gets 9pts

         second closest 6pts

         third closest 3pts

       20 points for predicting all winners

·        4th round (the quarter-final matches) – closest gets 12pts

         second closest 8pts

         third closest 4pts

       10 points for predicting all winners

·        5th round (the semi-final matches) – closest gets 15pts

         second closest 10pts

         third closest 5pts

       5 points for predicting all winners

·        6th round (the 3rd place match) – closest gets 18pts

         second closest 12pts

         third closest 6pts

       Need to predict winner (for 6/7 round bonus)

·        7th round (the final match) – closest gets 21pts

         second closest 14pts

         third closest 7pts

       Need to predict winner (for 6/7 round bonus)

       5 points for predicting both winners for rounds 6 and 7

For rounds 2-7 if you predict a tie you get the 1 point if it’s a tie. You also have to predict a winner for the going through/winner bonuses.

You can only get points for a game if you predicted the right outcome (the right winner, or draw).

15 point bonus for predicting the overall winner.
